"Somewhere In The Sun" is a two bedroom luxury
condo located in the new Grande Bay Condominium
Resort on beautiful St. John -- the best of the
U.S. Virgin Islands -- and the perfect spot for
a romantic interlude for two or for a small
family getaway. The moment you disembark the
ferry on St. John you will be greeted by our
on-island managers, escorted to your island home
and begin your transport to "another life" on
our island paradise.
GREAT ROOM / BALCONY
The rattan furnishings in the great room
including a sofa, side chairs, occasional
tables, dining table for four, entertainment
center with flat screen TV with basic cable
channels, DVD player, and stereo with IPOD
docking station. The sofa converts to a
queen-size bed. Comfortable furnishings,
artwork, accessories, and tile floors throughout
bring everything together with a Caribbean
flair.
Through sliding glass doors off the great room
you can enjoy al fresco dining or cocktails on
the 80 square foot, tiled, covered balcony with
a view to the ferry dock and waterfront
buildings in Cruz Bay harbor and, in the
distance, Pillsbury Sound between St. John and
St. Thomas with its beautiful azure water and
sailboats tacking in the wind.
KITCHEN
The fully-equipped gourmet kitchen includes
granite countertops and stainless steel
appliances, as well as coffee maker, blender,
toaster, teapot, dishes, glassware, cookware,
and utensils -- everything you will need to
prepare snacks for the beach, exotic island
drinks, or a gourmet dinner. A breakfast bar
overlooks the kitchen and separates it from the
great room.
BEDROOM / BATH/ BALCONY
The tropical decor continues in the bedroom/bath
suite which features a king size bed,
nightstands with reading lamps, chest of
drawers, TV/DVD combo, and CD player. The
ensuite bath has a large granite-topped vanity
and a tiled shower. All linens and towels are
provided and a washer/dryer and iron/ironing
board are available for your use. A small
covered balcony is located off the bedroom.
EXTRAS
The unit is fully air conditioned with ceiling
fans in the great room and bedroom. Wireless
internet service is available. A safe is
provided for the storage of your valuables.
Beach chairs, beach towels, and coolers are
available for your trips to our many beautiful
beaches. A Welcome Bag with snacks and beverages
will be in the fridge for your arrival.
RESORT AMENITIES
A cascading waterfall runs in front of the large
deck area at Grande Bay Resort. The deck
features a pool and hot tub and overlooks Cruz
Bay harbor with sailboats gently swaying on
their moorings. You can relax poolside in the
lounge chairs -- tanning by day, watching the
sunset over St. Thomas at dusk, and viewing the
sparkling stars at night. An air conditioned
work out facility with new state-of-the-art
exercise equipment (including Pilates machine)
is located below the pool deck.
AROUND ST. JOHN
A notebook binder in the condo will provide you
with extensive information on St. John
activities (water sports, hiking, boating) as
well as dining and shopping alternatives. Your
on-island hosts at Cimmaron Property Management
are always available to provide their
recommendations on restaurants, beaches, chef
services or masseuses and to offer suggestions
on the many ways to spend your day -- taking a
boat trip (sailboat or motor boat) in one of the
finest cruising areas in the world, hiking the
many trails in the Virgin Islands National Park,
snorkel or dive adventures, playing a round of
golf in St. Thomas, etc.
If you decide to rent a vehicle (reservations
should be made in advance), a reserved parking
space is available in the parking garage at
Grande Bay. However, renting a vehicle is
optional because of the convenient location of
Somewhere In The Sun. You are within walking
distance of the eclectic duty-free shopping and
dining options in the town of Cruz Bay.
The small beach at Frank Bay is less than a 10
minute walk and Salomon and Honeymoon beaches
can be reached on a scenic 30 minute hike. Many
of the water sport activities originate right in
Cruz Bay. Without a vehicle, you are within
short walking distance of the VITRAN bus stop
and the taxi stand, both located by the ferry
dock.
The bus system is inexpensive and runs along
Centerline road from Cruz Bay to Coral Bay on
the east (and most laid-back) side of the island
and on to the National Park beach at Salt Pond
Bay on the southeast shore. Local taxis
regularly provide transportation to the most
famous of St. John's beaches on the north shore.
There currently is no requirement for U.S.
citizens to have a passport when traveling to
the U.S. Virgin Islands. If you wish to venture
to the nearby British Virgin Islands, a passport
is required.
